West Tisbury Friday Watercolor Group
At the request of the Board of the Up Island Council on Aging (known colloquially as the Howes House), Nancy Cabot began convening a watercolor painting group at the Howes House every Friday, year ‘round, in 2001.
It was never advertised as a painting class because Nancy, recently retired as an art teacher, wanted to paint with the group not teach. All of the painters offer helpful suggestions to one another and criticism when requested. The group mounts a show and sale once a year in late June.
There is no charge for attendance. Painters bring their own materials, usually watercolors but occasionally acrylics, pencil, or charcoal. Oil paints are not allowed because of the solvents required which are harmful to some when inhaled.
Anyone is welcome to join the group which meets every Friday afternoon (except on holidays which fall on a Friday) from 1:00 until 3:30.
